This small-scale sustainable beekeeping mentorship program helps you create a solid base of beekeeping knowledge that you will use to develop your skills as a beekeeper. This course is suitable for a beekeeper at any level, even those just beginning their beekeeping! Since this apprenticeship is a year long, you will learn about beekeeping activities in every season. The 12 month program includes:
- two field days every month during the season, where we will be working hands on in colonies
- guest speakers
- monthly reading assignments and quiz to give you knowledge of beekeeping theory
- final exam and certificate
This course is an opportunity to learn from beekeepers with years of experience and to do so collectively with other beekeepers from different backgrounds. It is a unique opportunity for extensive participation in small-scale beekeeping.
At the end of this year-long experience, we will have you and your bees set up for success!
The program is available in-person in the following locations, or anywhere virtually:
- Bowen Island
- Pemberton
- Whistler
The course can begin at any time, so you can start when it is convenient for you.
Also note that the online portions of the course will be recorded and can be reviewed anytime. Alumni of this program are welcome to return for free, and may be able to take on a mentorship role.
